Let me preface this by saying that this law was discovered mainly from my lack of motorcycle funds, and only holds true while obeying the laws of the road.
Below is a rough graph. The barely street legal Honda Ruckus kicks things off. Don’t get me wrong, I am jealous of every track paddock and campground where I see one. These two wheeled mini vans appeal to my utilitarian side, but this internal conflict is for another rant. We see some great older bikes such as the NX125, and world champ best seller Super Cub to follow. Next up the legendary stone age TW200 and other smaller off road bike.
We see the beginning of the adventure segment with the Versys 300, CRF300L and others.

From here on, it is a mixed bag trending toward the Richard measurements of the car engine-ed Rocket III and KTM1290, but ohhh my BMW now has variable valve timing! Yeah, your Ducati doesn't even have Desmodromic valves any more! Your expectations now become a part of a spec sheet and something to debate and Google instead of use and enjoy.
Step away from your coffee shop, suit up and use 100% of that little bike you have every time you ride it. Otherwise the showroom salesman has won.
For two stroke engines, the smiles per cc factor is square, as you have twice as many power strokes for any given rpm.
